Developing State of The Art Technologies

Our Facilities

Driving our Supply Chain

Operating from a purpose built state of the art complex in West Dublin, we are strategically located on the capital's orbital hub to enable safe, swift distribution nationwide. We have invested in a 60,000 square feet warehouse The Uniphar Group has invested more than €65m in developing a new distribution facility located in the Citywest Business campus.

This new facility offers some 50,000sq ft of modern offices over two three storey blocks, 180,000 sq. ft of temperature controlled warehousing (air conditioned), 10,000 pallet spaces for ambient storage, in excess of 300 cold storage pallet spaces, and also increased controlled drug storage up to 200 pallet spaces. It is a state of the art storage, warehousing and office facility, specialised to meet the exacting needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

The warehouse has a unique A frame system where the fastest-moving stock is replenished at lightning speed and the system then knows how many totes of a product it holds and it automatically drops these fast-movers on to the conveyor which delivers the order into the tote for dispatch. The warehouse also operates a ‘pick by light’ technology which tells the warehouse team where the product is located so they can quickly pick the items and drop it in the appropriate bucket.
In order to provide better communication and service on our delivery times to our customers, we are tracking the deliveries of all orders from our depots in Citywest, Limerick, Sligo and Cork. This is done through our internal management system IWACS and the deliveries are tracked through the EPOD system which allows us to electronically track deliveries from the time they leave our depots until they are signed by the end customer.

These include:

Temperature controlled warehousing

Temperature controlled transport

Fully alarmed cold rooms (largest in the country)

Warehouse management system incorporating complete batch control and traceability

Dedicated areas for good in, despatch, quarantine and returns

Highly secure Controlled Drugs Rooms

Complete management of samples/literature storage

Formalised and ongoing educational structures to ensure all staff are fully trained

Full compliance with GDP

Optimising state of the art technologies

IT Infrastructure

The investment in SAP and other best in class technologies has allowed Uniphar to continue to reduce costs and streamline operations. In 2014, we developed a comprehensive web platform providing a range of online services for our retail pharmacy customers, sharing with them the benefit of the savings in time and costs brought by technology.

Our IT and Operations teams are constantly innovating to find new ways to meet operational challenges. In 2015, we will implement a sophisticated dashboard that will enable our Business Development team and our customers to review their account in full with real time information. This dashboard will also display the key performance indicators that will clearly show the service Uniphar is delivering to its customers.
